Underneath the motherboad is a black box which contains all the accessories. Wait, did I say the box is in a league of it's own ? it sure is, you'll have that euphoric feeling when you touch and open the box for the first time. Opening the box reveals the ROG logo on the middle and the board enclosed in a foam. The box alone is on a league of it's own, there's a premium feel to it when you touch it for the first time. Here's a comparison on how huge the box is compared to the X99-A The board comes in a premium box with the 10th anniversay logo in the middle.Īt the back of the box shows several features and specs. To celebrate it's 10th year anniversay, ASUS has introduced it's new flagship motherboard for the X99 chipset, The new Rampage V Edition 10, designed for the true aficionados and represents the pinnacle What will the spacing be for the SLI connector on the GPU's? I want to buy a high speed bridge but need to know the spacing. It seems like it was just yesterday that ASUS released it's first Rampage 10 years ago which ran on the extremely popular LGA775 socket using the x48 chipset.Īfter the first Rampage was released there have been several releases along the way from Rampage II, Rampage III, Rampage IV and the latest Rampage which is the Rampage V for the x99 chipset. It appears though that if I buy a Samsung 950 and place it in the M.2 slot it won't effect the GPU's at all. Is this true? Is it a design issue or something that will be fixed with a BIOS update? Looking at the threads it appears that if i place it in slot PCIEX8_4 it causes issues and if I use the U.2 slot it also turns on the M.2 slot which drops slot 1 to x8. Which format should I get so that the GPU's still run at x16 or is that not even possible? This drive is available as a PCIe or U.2 drive.

I would prefer the Intel 750 drive since it is available in 1.2TB size. The question how do I handle the NVMe drive. i7-6850k so a 40 lane CPUĪccording to page 1-8 of the manual I should place the GPU's in slots PCIEX16/X8_1 and PCIEX16/X8_3 so both run at x16. I want to run two GTX 1080's and an NVMe drive. Before I buy this board I want to ensure I get the components / configuration.
